Mason Evans, BBEC, EMRS, LI, CMI, CMRC, and Certified Asbestos Inspector, is the founder of Test Your Nest, a building biology environmental consulting practice based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Test Your Nest conducts Total Burden Home Assessments covering mold and indoor air quality, EMF/RF, water quality, lighting, lead, asbestos, and radon, giving homeowners a full picture of the exposures in their environment. Before building biology, Mason built a career across the insurance industry and the trades including plumbing, commercial solar, storm repair, and subcontracting, work that shaped his focus on liability, informed consent, and clear, defensible standards.

Mason’s path into building biology began with the loss of his mother to ALS; she believed her symptoms were connected to mold and EMF exposure in her home, and that conviction is why he founded Test Your Nest and pursued certification as a BBEC and EMRS. It also shapes his professional philosophy of the precautionary principle, total burden assessment, and independence from remediation work. Mason joins the Building Biology Institute board bringing that same combination of field experience, standards orientation, and personal mission to the organization’s work.
