Melissa Christou – BBNC & NBHWC & Project Manager in Residential Construction
Melissa Christou is a Building Biology New Build Consultant (BBNC) and Project Manager with LJ Nelson Construction, a residential remodeling and construction company serving Santa Barbara and the surrounding communities.
Her interest in Building Biology grew from her own health journey and a desire to better understand the connection between our living environments and overall well-being. Through both personal experience and professional training, Melissa developed a deep appreciation for how building materials, indoor air quality, moisture management, electromagnetic fields (EMFs), and other environmental factors can impact health and quality of life.
At LJ Nelson Construction, Melissa brings Building Biology principles into the construction process as an added layer of consideration for clients who want to create healthier homes. Working alongside her team, she helps integrate low-toxicity materials, thoughtful design choices, moisture management strategies, and practical EMF reduction measures while balancing aesthetics, functionality, and budget.
Melissa believes a home should be a place of comfort, safety, and restoration.
