Zara D’Cotta, BBNC, EMRS

Specialising in healthy building materials, healthy home design, and EMF detection and mitigation, Zara is a Building Biology New Build Consultant (BBNC), Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist (EMRS), and keynote speaker.

As founder of The Healthy Home, Zara provides education, consulting and keynote presentations to builders, designers and building product manufacturers across Australia, Asia Pacific, New Zealand and the USA, translating Building Biology principles into practical, actionable strategies that reduce risk and improve long-term health, and reduce liability in relation to moisture and mould in new construction. As an Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist, she assesses and mitigates EMF exposure in residential construction projects.

Her work bridges the gap between environmental health, building science and construction, supporting industry professionals to confidently specify materials and design healthier homes.

Since 2021, she has supported over 150 designers and builders to implement healthier material, design and construction decisions across their projects, and has delivered keynote presentations for organisations including the Australian Institute of Architects, Building Designers Association of Australia and Master Builders Australia.

Zara discovered her passion for environmental health after navigating cancer and environmental illness, which ignited her mission to change the way homes are designed and built
