From the Executive Director – November 2025

Giving thanks for this amazing community

As the days grow shorter and 2025 is in its home stretch, I’ve been reflecting on all I have for which to be thankful. November is about abundance of the Autumn harvest and seems a good time to pause and appreciate the people and purpose that keep us moving forward.

Our community is what makes this work meaningful. Every student who takes a BBI course, every practitioner who applies Building Biology principles in the field, every instructor who shares their experience with a new generation of colleagues — together, you’re creating ripples of health and awareness that extend far beyond your own homes and projects. Science and standards matter, but not without the life you breathe into them.

This year, we’ve seen continued growth and evolution. We are finding new ways to reach audiences who are hungry for practical, health-focused design. Enrollment continues to grow, as does the shared impact of our certified practitioners and educators. Each milestone we achieve is the result of collaboration, dedication, and a shared belief in a healthier built environment, and shared responsibility for the health of our families, our neighbors, and this fragile planet.

As we head into the final weeks of the year, my gratitude isn’t just about looking back — it’s also about looking forward. There’s so much ahead in 2026: new or revitalized partnerships, expanded learning opportunities, and continued momentum in bringing Building Biology into mainstream conversations about wellness, sustainability, and design.

From my family to yours, thank you for being part of this movement. Your curiosity, generosity, and commitment are what keep this Institute thriving. Together, we’re not just building better dwellings — we’re helping shape a healthier world, one space at a time.

Warmly,
Erik Rosen
