From the Executive Director – Building Biology Institute

June 2025

Summer is approaching fast, and here at the institute our summer will be spent sprucing up. From looking at our entire online curriculum to ensure it reflects the most current science, to making our Learning Dashboard more useful for enrolled students, we will continue to serve our students, graduates, and the public with the best building biology education in the world.

June’s course of the month – 50% off – is EMR Science. In this course, electromagnetic concepts are explained in detail; direct current electric and magnetic fields, alternating current electric and magnetic fields including microsurge electrical pollution (also known as dirty electricity), high-frequency electromagnetic radiation (also known as radio wave and microwave frequencies), radioactivity (radon, gamma, alpha, beta), and terrestrial radiation (earth grids and geopathology). It’s not too late to enroll in our online seminar IBE 211: Indoor Environmental Quality. Taught by longtime IEQ experts Stephen Collette and Cathy Cooke, the seminar will be an exploration of all the non-technology causes of sick house syndrome: biological, chemical, and particulate exposure sources in the air, the ground, and your water (mold, allergens, radon, lead, asbestos, metals, methane, carbon monoxide, volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds). This seminar’s lectures will be prerecorded, and its attendant live Q&A and review sessions will be held online, via Zoom, 16 through 20 June 2025.

We’ve got some new courses in development that we’ll be rolling out this year, so stay tuned for some exciting announcements.

Until next time, here’s to healthy homes and healthy lives.

Erik Rosen, Executive Director
