Our buildings are the sanctuaries in which a large portion of our lives are lived.
After a bank of smart meters were installed under her apartment, Kate was advised by an insightful friend that “You need a functional medicine practitioner and a building biologist!” This moment launched Kate on a path of exploring the many ways that our built environment may support or hinder our health and well-being.
Kate’s background is in education and environmental studies (PhD, University of Toronto, 2013). She has specialized as an indoor environmental consultant, completing the three professional certificates (BBEC, BBNC, EMRS) offered by the Building Biology Institute. Kate’s consultancy approach is informed by lived experience and the realization that we often need to heal both ourselves and the spaces in which we live.
