Alumni of our BBEC, EMRS, and BBNC certification programs who wish to retain their certification must remain up to date in their professional training by completing 40 hours of continuing education credits (CEUs) with the passing of every two-year period, on a calendar-year basis.
These credits must relate to one or more of the three core Building Biology disciplines: Natural Healthy Building, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Electromagnetics; and/or the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Healthy, Safety & Welfare (HSW) units. They may be acquired through BBI’s online curriculum and/or BBI’s advanced (300-level) seminars and/or annual conference events, or from on-site or online events conducted by outside like-minded institutions (subject to BBI approval, on a case by case basis).
Ways to acquire CEU credits within BBI: Attendance at a BBI Conference conveys 8 CEUs per day • Attendance at BBI 200-level seminars as an updating repeat student conveys 40 CEUs • Attendance at BBI advanced (300-level) seminars conveys 40 CEUs • Completion of IBE online coursework (assuming those courses were not completed successfully in prior years) conveys the individual course’s published CEUs • Completion of a printed seminar update course and take-at-home exam conveys 24 CEUs.
Ways to acquire CEU credits outside of BBI (requires documentation – click here to download request form – and payment of a nominal BBI administration fee: $135 USD): Attendance at a seminar or workshop conducted by a Registered CEU Provider conveys the event’s published CEUs • Attendance at a seminar or workshop conducted by a non-Registered CEU Provider covering related material conveys the event’s published CEUs.
